Pastels on Canson

My second chance to work on a ballet. I was very please with the choice of project as well. Stravinsky's Rite Of Spring is one of the most powerful pieces of music I have ever heard. The story of the primitive human sacrifice was a wonderful subject to play with as well.

Overall its a simple design. My set designer and I decided to go with a ancient celtic feel to the piece. I wanted the dancers to appear primitive. The men were in Loin cloths and the women in sheer two piece gowns (Yes, those ARE nipples you see.). The entire company would have their Bodies covered in heavy Celtic tattooing (either painted on or painted on a body stocking). To give them all a tribal feel and a sense of connectedness amongst each other.
