Water Color on Canson

In reading St Joan I realized how much the story was more of a British satire than an actual telling of Joan of Arc's. It only becomes a drama near the end of the play, while the first half is rather humorous. I chose a very limited color pallet when designing this project. I felt it tied the characters in together, making them feel as if they were all from the same universe. I enjoy the medieval period so researching this show was great fun.

I never could quite get the hang of watercolors. But this specific technique used for St.Joan worked very well for me. I printed out my sketches and water colored over the line work. It made a very interesting effect.
