Modern Dress Project : SDSU - 2001

Design Class

Watercolor

This was a challenging project, and one I consider among my better works. The objective? To design for specific types: A young hip female, a young hip male, a villainous male, and an older conservative female, all of them having a similar influence on their look from a well known icon. It was easy for me to choose mine considering I am a large collector of faerie things. Once again I turned to Brian Froud for inspiration and attempted to design costumes for each character and make them each look like a faerie without drawing wings on them. For wings, I went the route of large hair and fluffy sleeves. The men were very hard particularly. I wanted them to still look remotely masculine, yet still have that faerie quality to them.
